GAY NAME GAME (1979), Tom's first solo album, was also one of the first gay-themed albums. Recorded in a studio at RCA in New York, the composer's vocals were backed by a quartet (piano, guitar, bass and percussion) of first-class studio musicians.
The material, 13 original songs, includes a satire of gays as recruiters, a poignant response to the bible's injunctions against homosexuality, and a hilarious jab at Anita Bryant.
Also on this album is the first recorded version of Lesbian Seagull, later made famous by Engelbert Humperdink in the 1996 Paramount picture Beavis and Butt-head Do America.
